The present research aimed to determine the productive and economic viability in the production of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) using two organic substrates and the inclusion of cardboard and paper residues in Huanta. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, consisting of eight treatments and three replications, distributed in 24 experimental units: T1 (100% cardboard), T2 (100% sugarcane bagasse), T3 (100% paper), T4 (100% coconut husk), T5 (85% sugarcane bagasse + 15% paper), T6 (85% sugarcane bagasse + 15% cardboard), T7 (85% coconut husk + 15% paper), and T8 (85% coconut husk + 15% cardboard). The evaluated variables were cap diameter, number of fruiting bodies, number of caps, yield per bag, and economic indicators of benefit/cost ratio and profitability. The data were subjected to the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and Levene’s homogeneity of variance test; according to the fulfillment of assumptions, analysis of variance (ANOVA), Welch’s test with Games-Howell multiple comparisons, or the Kruskal-Wallis test with Dunn’s multiple comparisons adjusted by Bonferroni were applied. The economic evaluation was carried out using Microsoft Excel, considering production costs, income, net profit, benefit/cost ratio, and profitability. The results showed that treatment T8 obtained the highest yield in the first and second harvests, with 210.32 g/bag and 159.40 g/bag, respectively, as well as the highest number of caps (28 units). Meanwhile, treatment T1 recorded the highest yield in the third harvest (165.21 g/bag) and the largest cap diameter in the first harvest (12.08 cm). In the economic evaluation, treatment T8 presented the highest benefit/cost ratio (1.68) and the highest profitability (67.70%). It was concluded that treatment T8 (85% coconut husk + 15% cardboard) constituted the alternative with the greatest productive and economic viability for the cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus under the conditions of Huanta.
